Internship – Social Work & Human Resources

What this role
means for you

At ORPSY you work in a close-knit team of specialists where your talent, knowledge and commitment truly matter. Every day you get the opportunity to help organisations and people move forward while continuing to develop yourself.

Orpsy is an executive search & assessment firm headquartered in Ghent. We have been active in our field for more than 35 years and work for clients across Belgium. Every year we offer interns the opportunity to gain experience within their field of study, naturally with a strong connection to our own sector and activities.

If you are looking for an internship within a smaller organisation where autonomy, versatility, creativity and concrete project work are central, feel free to contact us for an informal introduction. Together we can explore what an internship project at Orpsy could look like.

The internship position is located in Ghent – near Sint-Pieters Station – easily accessible on foot and by public transport. It is up to the intern to determine which domains he or she would like to explore further. Below is an overview of possible areas that can be covered during the internship:

Domain 1: Search & Selection

  • You actively contribute to our search procedures and conduct sector analyses
  • You map out the search methodology efficiently for a specific vacancy
  • Actively approach candidates regarding opportunities and conduct an initial telephone screening
  • Attend interviews and gain insight into interview techniques, after which you will gradually take on a more active role
  • Example research project: why candidates decline job offers, competitor analysis, etc.

Domain 2: Assessment & Development Centers

  • Gain insight into various assessment methods: psychotechnical tests, interpretation, role plays, etc.
  • Attend interviews and presentations within assessment centers, after which you will take on a more active role
  • Develop new test batteries such as in-basket exercises and role plays
  • Competency-based reporting
  • Example research project: how applicants experience the recruitment process and how its quality can be improved

Domain 3: Career Guidance & Coaching

  • Gain insight into career advice and Personal Development Plans (PDP)
  • Example research project: developing initiatives around stress and burnout

As a junior consultant, the student becomes a full member of our team. The internship supervisors have a theoretical background in psychology and social sciences, but above all bring valuable practical experience gained from many years in the sector.

We consider it essential that, besides operational support tasks, students also work concretely on one or two substantive projects. These projects can be adapted according to the student’s interests. At the same time, we aim to guide individuals who can work independently, have a constructive critical mindset, are flexible and think proactively.
