An Assessment Center: it can be done differently!

The assessment center has long been an established method within the world of Recruitment and HR. It remains a fact that the predictive value of an assessment is higher than relying solely on an interview or computer-based tests.

 

This makes the methodology a lasting one and continues to underline its relevance. By combining different measurement methods, we can assess a candidate’s competencies in a qualitative way in relation to their professional ambitions.

Contemporary alternatives to the classic assessment

By default, this takes place at our office in Ghent or at a location of your choice. The candidate usually needs to free up approximately one working day for this.

 

Recently, however, we have increasingly noticed that time is a valuable resource. Avoiding travel time without sacrificing opportunities for interaction is an important challenge. Orpsy wants to evolve with this reality and find the right balance. That is why we have developed, tested and validated several alternatives, which we are proud to present below.

Alternative possibilities

With the rise and widespread use of online tools and platforms, it became evident that their advantages could also be applied within the world of assessments. We therefore offer digital assessments as well. Candidates can interact with the assessors from home via an online meeting. Our exercises have been adapted so that candidates can prepare part of the assessment independently beforehand. This way, we limit the actual “screen time” during the assessment interactions to half a day. A first efficient alternative to the traditional assessment.

 

The idea of organising preparation and interaction as efficiently as possible has also led us to offer a format where the assessment interactions take place physically during half a day. This can be organised at our office or at a location of your choice. Similar to the digital assessment, this format also includes preparation that the candidate can complete in advance at a time that fits their own schedule and from their home environment.

 

If preparation from home is not possible, we look at the most crucial competencies and exercises. Based on this, we create a shortened version so the assessment can still take place within half a day.

 

Finally, other alternatives or tailor-made solutions are of course possible.
